Heb 2:14 Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself similarly shared in the same, so that by means of His death He might destroy him having the power of death, that is, the devil,
Heb 2:15 and deliver those who throughout life were held in slavery by fear of death.
At the moment I have 2 friends dying of cancer and a third one who died early this morning.
I have been feeling engulfed by morbidity and it was almost smothering me when I read this verse.
Satan quickly takes advantage of our worst fears and our thinking slowly becomes toxic as we dwell more and more on ‘what ifs.’
With all this death around, I worry that my family might also catch it – like a flu virus;
Or I start thinking about how losing my husband would just about do it for me … and then I catch myself consider pulling a Romeo and Juliet stunt if he died because I can’t imagine life without him.
And before you know it, I’m enslaved by the fear of death.

Then God reminded me of this song…
There is a higher throne
Than all this world has known,
Where faithful ones from ev’ry tongue
Will one day come.
Before the Son we’ll stand,
Made faultless through the Lamb;
Believing hearts find promised grace—
Salvation comes.
Hear heaven’s voices sing;
Their thund’rous anthem rings
Through em’rald courts and sapphire skies.
Their praises rise.
All glory, wisdom, pow’r,
Strength, thanks, and honor are
To God our King, who reigns on high
Forevermore.
And there we’ll find our home,
Our life before the throne;
We’ll honor Him in perfect song
Where we belong.
He’ll wipe each tear-stained eye
As thirst and hunger die.
The Lamb becomes our Shepherd King;
We’ll reign with Him.
Hear heaven’s voices sing;
Their thund’rous anthem rings
Through em’rald courts and sapphire skies.
Their praises rise.
All glory, wisdom, pow’r,
Strength, thanks, and honor are
To God our King, who reigns on high
Forevermore. There is a higher throne

I woke up and saw my focus was badly skew;
That I was negating all kinds of scripture by DECIDING that my life would not be worth living anymore if I had to lose my husband;
In fact I was beginning to question whether God really IS in control.
(And whenever you hear your inner thoughts copying Satan’s little conversation in the garden with Eve….’Did God really say that?’… then START RUNNING.
Climb back into His word and get your focus sorted! Then feel the warm light of His truth free you from the fear of death
