The purpose of the feast?

To announce the arrival of the 7th month alerting Israel to prepare for the day of atonement 10 days later. (Atonement – The one day a year – the most sacred day – that Israel’s sin would be atoned for by the blood of a ram. Jesus came and fulfilled this by doing the same thing but for real. (Hebrews 7-10)

Alerting the people of the urgency of getting right with God- To begin searching for any sin that lies hidden and repenting/making right before the great and terrible day of judgement. The word ‘blast’ is teruah in Hebrew and means ‘a blast of war, an alarm or a blast of joy.’ There were 2 trumpets made of silver. (Numbers 10:1-10) They were used not just at the feast days, but to get people ready – ready to move, ready to Eight, or ready for something or someone special to come. This was the SHADOW of the feast of Trumpets.

The SUBSTANCE is that the trumpet blasts will announce the return of Messiah, our bridegroom who comes to collect His bride, the Church. (1 Corinthians 15:50-58, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17) More about it? Nothing special happened other than blowing the trumpet. (The trumpet was always blown on the 1st of the month so everyone knew the new month had arrived (Numbers 10:10) But on THIS day The Rabbi’s say it was blown a 100 times during the day.
